May 9th (10th rain date) Self-Rescue Class - For lead climbers and experienced seconds. Held at a crag in CT and taught by an AMGA instructor who literally wrote the book on climbing self-rescue. Class is limited to verified trad leaders who lead on AMC Narragansett trips. The AMC will fund the bulk of course cost but for buy-in the cost to you is: AMC members: $40, non-members $45. to Crag - Sport Climbing Course

16 (17 rain date) Part 1 Basics This
is an approximately four-hour course designed to teach those with
experience lead climbing in the gym the mechanics of sport climbing
outdoors where you must hang your own draws and clean anchors. It
covers safely clipping, cleaning anchors, rope management, belaying,
and gear. The course will be taught locally at a RI crag and will be
repeated through the year if there is sufficient interest.
Participants must be competent lead belaying, lead 5.7, and have all
personal climbing equipment: harness, shoes, belay device, helmet.
After these dates, the course will be taught on an ad hoc basis and
arranged at the convenience of the instructor. Course cost is
free.

May 23 (24 rain date)
Part
2 Multi-Pitch Sport Climbing This
is a more advanced class to teach transitioning the belay on a
multi-pitch route and multi-pitch rappelling. The course will be taught
locally at a nearby CT crag and will be repeated through the year if
there is sufficient interest. Participants must be competent in basic
sport climbing (leading, belaying, cleaning an anchor) and must have
experience rappelling. After these dates, the course will be taught on
an ad hoc basis and arranged at the convenience of the instructor.
Course cost is free.

casual day of sport climbing and top roping for women and non-binary
individuals at RI’s only sport climbing crag (Beach Pond, Exeter, RI).
Meant to build community among local women and non-binary climbers and
to help orient newcomers to the trainings, trips, and community of the
AMC RI chapter. This gathering will cater to a wide
range of experiences. An intake form will ask about your experience
belaying (top rope, sport) and how much of your own gear you have or
