Directions to Intermediate Classes

Car Pooling: Northern Rhode Islanders and Mass will car pool at the IGA market in the Village Plaza on Rte 6 in Scituate and leave by 7:30 am. Southern Rhode Islanders will car pool from the Rte 95 Exit 3A park-and-ride lot on Rte 138 in Wyoming and also leave by 7:30 am.

 

First Class 

Rattlesnake Mountain, Plainville, CT 

From souther RI:  Take RT 95 south to Old Saybrook and take exit 69 which puts you on RT 9 to Essex/Middletwon/Hartford.  Take RT 9 to exit 28 (left exit) to New Britain. This puts you on RT 72/84.  Take exit 2. At the light take a left on New Britain Ave. Take a right at next light on Cooke Street. This becomes RT 10. Follow this to RT 6 east. Go up ramp to RT 6. Within one mile you will see Pinnacle Road. Park there.. 
From northern RI: Take RT 6 to I-84 west to exit 38, RT 6. west. Continue on RT and go a few miles. On left you will see a small fenced area leading to a radio tower.  Just aftert that on the left you will see Pinnacle Road.  Park there.   About 1/4 mile back up on RT 6 is the trailhead just off a small paved road with gate 50 yards up -the TV tower access road. Hike the blue blazed Metacomet south from the TV tower access road (the trail starts right at RT 6) for approximately 1 mile.  See maps below.


 Second Class

Ragged Mountain Southington, CT 

From southern RI:  RT 95 south to Old Saybrook and take exit 69 which puts you on RT 9 to Essex/Middletwon/Hartford.  Take RT 9 to exit 24 (left exit) which puts you on RT 372.  At the light take a left on RT 71A .  Follow this for four or five miles to a light and take a RIGHT on Southington Road (RT 364).  Follow this to the entrance (on the RIGHT) to Timberlin Park (golf course).  Go by clubhouse to the parking lot. See map below.

From northern RI:   RT 6 west into CT.  Keep LEFT onto SR-695 [Governor John Davis Lodge Tpke] towards CT-695 / I-395S / Norwich.  Merge onto I-395. At exit 82, turn RIGHT onto ramp towards CT-2 W / CT-32 N / Hartford / Colchester. Turn RIGHT (North) onto W Town St. Road name changes to Yantic Rd. Take Ramp onto SR-2 [SR-32] towards CT-2 / CT-32 / Willimantic / Hartford. At exit 5D, take ramp (RIGHT) onto SR-3 towards CT-3 / Wethersfield. Take ramp (LEFT) onto I-91 towards I-91 / New Haven. At exit 22N, take Ramp (RIGHT) onto SR-9 towards CT-9 / New Britain. Road name changes to SR-72 [SR-9]. At exit 24, turn LEFT onto Ramp towards CT-71 / CT-372 / Kensington. Keep LEFT to stay on ramp. Turn LEFT (South) onto SR-71A [High Rd]. Bear RIGHT (South) onto SR-71A [Chamberlain Hwy]. Keep RIGHT at light onto SR-364 [Southington Rd]. Take
RIGHT about half-mile down into Timberlin Park (golf course) go by clubhouse to parking lot.  See map below.
